Inland from the coast the country is flat hamada and sand with almost no surface water, and the few points where water reaches the surface support small stands of palm that make an oasis in the strict sense: a patch of green with nothing around it. Asmaa is one of these, a cluster of palms around a water point used by the herders who move through this country.

November to March is cooler and the driving is easier. Summer heat inland is severe. Water availability varies through the year.
Honest expectations
It is a small stand of palms rather than a large oasis and the visit is short. The track in needs a guide and a proper vehicle. There are no facilities of any kind.
