Doc Let Beach

Doc Let runs for several kilometres on the Hon Khoi peninsula north of Nha Trang, white sand shelving very gradually so that the water stays shallow a long way out, which makes it a family beach and gives it the pale turquoise colour it is photographed for. Behind it are the salt fields worked from January to June, and at the northern end is the Van Phong industrial area with a power station, which is visible from parts of the beach and is the honest qualification to the descriptions. Resort sections charge for access and sunbeds; public stretches are free and less kept.

When to go

February to September; the monsoon runs from about October. A full day.

Honest expectations

The power station and industrial area at one end are unavoidable in some views. Resort sections charge and the free stretches are less clean. Shade is limited. It is quiet on weekdays and busy at weekends.
