Bho Hoong Village

Bho Hoong is a Co Tu village in the mountains of western Quang Nam, and its centre is the guol - the communal house on stilts, with a high thatched roof, carved posts and painted panels, which is where village decisions are taken and ceremonies held. The Co Tu dance, tung tung da da, is performed with the men stamping and the women raising open palms to the sky in a gesture that gives the dance its character. The village has developed a community tourism operation with homestays in stilt houses, weaving, and performances arranged in advance rather than laid on for passing traffic.
