La Llovizna Falls

La Llovizna is a stretch of the Caroní river breaking over rocks into a set of falls just before it joins the Orinoco, and it sits inside a park in the middle of Ciudad Guayana. Bridges and paths link a series of forested islands between the channels, so the falls are crossed rather than merely looked at, and the spray that gives the place its name, the drizzle, hangs over the paths. Howler monkeys and capuchins live in the park trees.

When to go

July to October has the highest flow after the rains. December to April is lower but the paths are drier. Weekends bring city crowds.

Honest expectations

Flow is controlled by dam releases upstream and can be much reduced. Paths are wet and slippery from the spray. It is a city park and the surroundings are urban.
