Agrifest has run since the 1970s and is held over a long weekend each February at the fairgrounds in the middle of St Croix, and it functions as the annual gathering of everything the island grows, cooks and makes. There are livestock, including the local Senepol cattle bred here from West African and European stock and now exported worldwide, produce competitions, seedling and plant sales, bush tea and herbal medicine stalls, food booths cooking the full Crucian repertoire, craft, and music through the day. It draws people from all three islands and from the diaspora, and it is the least touristy large event in the territory.

When to go
Mid to late February, over a long weekend, with dates announced a few months ahead. Saturday is the busiest. It is hot and open, so hats and water matter. It is an all-day event and food is the main reason many people go.
Honest expectations
It is an agricultural fair, not a spectacle, and visitors expecting a carnival will find something much more workaday. The site is an open field with limited shade. Parking is chaotic. Dates move year to year and are confirmed late.
