Getting thereOn the leeward coast north of Englishman's Bay; road down from the ridge
EntryFree

Parlatuvier is a deep horseshoe bay on Tobago's leeward coast with a fishing village at the head of it and a curved concrete jetty running out into the water, and the standard view is from the road above, which comes over the ridge and looks straight down into the bay. It is a working fishing settlement rather than a resort, with boats drawn up on the sand and the catch sold at the landing.

What you actually see

  • The road viewpoint - the view down into the horseshoe bay from the ridge.
  • The curved jetty - the concrete pier running out from the village.
  • The fishing landing - boats and catch worked on the beach.
  • The forested hills - the Main Ridge slopes running down to the bay.

When to go

January to May is driest. Mornings are when the fishing boats come in. The road over the ridge is narrow and winding.

Honest expectations

The beach is a working one with boats and gear rather than a swimming beach. Facilities in the village are minimal. The coast road from Scarborough is long and slow.

Nearby

Englishman's Bay is south, and Bloody Bay is north.
