World of Volvo

The building opened in April 2024 at Korsvagen, designed by Henning Larsen with a roof of glulam timber carried on three tree-shaped columns and a curved glass front, and it replaced the older Volvo museum out at Arendal. Inside, the exhibitions run through the company's history from 1927, the cars themselves, and the engineering it built its reputation on - the three-point seatbelt Nils Bohlin designed in 1959 and the decision to give the patent away, which is the story the place turns on. There are driving simulators, a section on the transport side of the business, and a restaurant and event spaces that make up much of the floor area.

Year round; it is indoors. Two hours.

Practical notes

It is a brand centre as much as a museum, and reads that way in places. Tickets are not cheap. Much of the building is restaurant and event space. The older Arendal museum's larger car collection is not all here.
