Munda sits on the coast of New Georgia with an airfield laid out on flat ground beside it, and it works as the base for the Western Province's diving and for trips into Roviana Lagoon and up to Marovo. A dive operator, a couple of lodges and a market make up the town. The reef walls offshore drop away steeply and the lagoon behind holds villages, skull shrines and mangrove. The name is properly Lambete for the settlement itself, with Munda referring to the wider district.

When to go
May to October is the drier season with the best visibility. The wet season brings squalls and runoff. Flights from Honiara run most days.

The town itself has little to see and works as a base. Accommodation is limited to a few lodges. Flights are small and weather-dependent.
