Svidník Open-Air Museum
A Rusyn skanzen in northeastern Slovakia with relocated log houses and two wooden Greek Catholic churches.

The museum at Svidník holds the buildings of the Rusyn villages of the northeast: log houses with their byres attached, barns, a mill, a forge, a school, and two wooden Greek Catholic churches moved here from the surrounding valleys, with their iconostases. The Rusyns are the Carpathian population of this corner of Slovakia, and the museum is one of the few places their material culture is presented as a whole.

When to go
May to October is the main season and when buildings are open. Winter opening is limited. A Rusyn festival is held in the town in June.
Good to know
Interiors are closed outside the season. Labelling is in Slovak and Rusyn with little English. The town of Svidník has little else.
