Lúčky Waterfall

The waterfall at Lúčky drops about twelve metres in the middle of the village, and the rock it falls over is travertine that the water itself built: the springs here carry dissolved calcium carbonate and deposit it wherever the water aerates, so the fall has been constructing its own face for a very long time. The village is a spa built on the same mineral water, and a wooden walkway runs to a viewing platform.

When to go
April to October is the most comfortable, with the strongest flow in spring. The fall freezes into ice formations in cold winters, which is worth seeing. The walkway can be slippery.
Honest expectations
The fall is in the middle of a village, not in wild country, and the setting is ordinary. The travertine is fragile and walking on it is prohibited. The visit takes twenty minutes.
