The Science Centre opened in 1977 and has grown into fourteen galleries with over a thousand exhibits, almost all of them meant to be handled: mechanics, fire, mirrors, sound, human anatomy and a large section on climate. Attached to it are an observatory that opens on Friday evenings with public telescope viewing, a domed theatre, a water play park in the warm months and a butterfly and insect house. It is aimed at children but works for anyone.

When to go
Year round; the centre closes on Mondays outside school holidays. The observatory opens Friday evenings and is cancelled in cloud, which is often. School holidays are extremely busy.
Honest expectations
It is aimed squarely at children and school groups fill it on weekdays. Some exhibits are dated or broken. The observatory is frequently clouded out and Singapore's light pollution limits what it can show.
