Île Cocos Marine Park

Île Cocos is a granite islet of a couple of hectares northeast of La Digue, protected as a marine park along with the smaller rocks around it, and the snorkelling in the shallows between them is generally reckoned among the best in the granitic Seychelles: boulders dropping into clear water, reef fish in numbers and turtles passing through. Landing on the islet is limited and there are no facilities. Boats come from La Digue and Praslin.

• The surrounding rocks - the smaller islets included in the protected area.
• The turtles - hawksbills passing through the shallows.

When to go

April to October is calmest and clearest. Crossings are cancelled in rough weather. Mornings have the best visibility.

Honest expectations

Landing time on the islet is short and there are no facilities of any kind. A marine park fee is charged on top of the boat. Several boats often arrive together and the site gets crowded.
