Palm Island

Palm Island, formerly Prune Island, is a small island a short boat ride from Union that John Caldwell leased in 1966 on the condition he develop it, and he planted several thousand coconut palms across what had been swamp and scrub, which is where the present name came from. It has run as a single resort since. Five beaches ring the island and the interior is planted; there is no way to visit without staying.

When to go

December to May is the dry season and the high season. Hurricane season runs June to November. The resort closes for part of the year.

Honest expectations

There is no access without staying at the resort and day visits are not permitted. Costs are high. Hurricane Beryl in 2024 caused damage across the southern Grenadines.
