Heart Shaped Waterfall

Above Jamestown a stream comes over the cliff at the head of the valley, and the wet stain it has left on the rock behind is roughly heart-shaped, which is what the name refers to rather than the water itself. A rough path climbs the valley floor to a point below it in about forty minutes. The fall is thin at the best of times and can dry to nothing, so it is worth checking after rain rather than in a dry spell.

When to go

Best after rain, when the fall carries water; in dry spells it can be almost nothing. The climate is mild year round. Mornings avoid the heat in the valley.

Honest expectations

The fall is often reduced to a trickle or nothing at all. The path is rough, overgrown in places and involves stream crossings. Rockfall from the cliffs above is a real hazard.
