Ouesso stands on the Sangha in northern Congo, a river town in the middle of the forest that functions as the supply and transit point for the whole northern region, including Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park upstream. Timber moves through it and the river carries traffic towards Cameroon and the Central African Republic. It has an airport, which is what makes the northern parks reachable at all.
