Zywiec Brewery Museum

The brewery at Zywiec was founded in 1856 by Archduke Albrecht Friedrich Habsburg, who held the estate here, and it grew into one of the largest in the region; the museum opened in 2006 in the original cellars beneath the works, with about a thousand square metres of exhibition running through the arched brick vaults. It covers the technology - malting, brewing, cooperage, bottling - with equipment and reconstructed workspaces, and the commercial history, which is the more interesting half: its label, with two dancers in Cracovian costume, has been in continuous use since before the war and is among the most recognised marks in Poland. The tour ends with a tasting. The brewery itself is a modern industrial plant and is not part of the visit. The Habsburg castle and park are elsewhere in the town.

Good to know

Booking is effectively required and slots fill in summer. Tours are guided and timed, mostly in Polish. The working brewery is not visited. Age restrictions apply to the tasting.
