Suntago Water World

Suntago opened in 2020 on farmland near Mszczonow and is billed as the largest indoor water park in Europe - a title that depends on what is measured, with Germany's Tropical Islands claiming it by other counts - built as a cluster of glass domes kept at tropical temperature and humidity throughout the year. It is divided into three parts: a slide and wave area for families, a quieter palm filled lagoon zone, and an adults only saunas and relaxation section with its own pools. There are more than thirty slides, several of them large enough to need a queue system, along with outdoor pools that stay open in winter. The appeal is straightforward: swimming in twenty nine degrees with palms overhead while it is freezing outside.

When to go

Winter weekends are the busiest by far, since this is where Warsaw goes when the weather is bad, and the January and February holiday periods are the peak. Weekday mornings are much calmer. Tickets are sold for set time blocks and for whole days, so decide in advance how long you want and book online, since walk up entry can be refused when capacity is reached.

Honest expectations

It is expensive by Polish standards and the extras add up fast, with the sauna area, lockers, food and drinks all charged on a wristband that is easy to lose track of. On busy days the popular slides have long queues and the pools are crowded and loud. The heat and humidity tire people out quickly, and there is no realistic way to get there without a car.
