Kayangel Atoll

North of Babeldaob, past the reef gap, Palau keeps its one inhabited atoll: Kayangel, a ring of four islets around a lagoon so clear the giant clams glow from the boat, with the village on Ngcheangel islet hosting the state's few dozen residents and the occasional visitor who has arranged the permit and the crossing.
