Obyan is a beach at Saipan's southern end past the airport, a stretch of white sand with reef offshore and, in the trees behind it, a set of latte stones: the pillar-and-capstone supports the ancient Chamorro raised their houses on. The site was occupied for well over a thousand years. It is quieter than the western beaches because the track down keeps casual traffic away. Aircraft on approach to the airport pass overhead, which is the only regular disturbance the beach gets. The latte here are among the more complete sets left standing on Saipan.
