At Hikutavake on Niue's northwestern coast the raised reef platform holds a set of pools that fill and flush with the tide, clear enough at low water to snorkel in with reef fish, urchins and coral in them. The rock around is sharp and bare. Niue has no rivers and no runoff, which is why the water here is as clear as it is: visibility off this coast is among the best anywhere.
