The Morača cuts a canyon through the limestone north of Podgorica, and the main road to the north was carved into its western wall, running on ledges and short bridges with the river a long way below and rock rising above. It is one of the more dramatic road journeys in the country and the pull-ins along it serve as viewpoints. The Belgrade to Bar railway runs the same corridor on the far side.

- The viewpoints - the pull-ins along the road giving views down the canyon.
When to go
May to October is the most comfortable. The road is open year round but winter brings ice and rockfall. Mornings give the best light in the gorge.
Honest expectations
It is a busy main road with heavy lorry traffic and few safe places to stop. Rockfall closes sections periodically. The canyon is seen from the car rather than walked.
