Grebaje Valley
A glacial valley in Prokletije enclosed by vertical limestone walls, with meadows and shepherds' huts.

The Grebaje valley runs southwest from Gusinje into the heart of Prokletije, a flat-floored glacial trough of meadows and beech scrub with limestone walls rising more than a thousand metres on both sides, culminating in the Karanfili, a row of jagged towers that are the range's best-known profile. Shepherds' huts stand on the meadows in summer, and the valley is the starting point for climbs and for the routes towards Albania.

When to go
June to September is the season; the valley is snowbound in winter and the road is not maintained. July and August have the meadows at their best. Afternoon storms are common.
Good to know
The road in is rough gravel and can be washed out. Facilities are limited to a couple of small guesthouses and huts. Weather in the mountains changes very quickly.
