Djalovica Cave

Đalovića pećina lies at the head of a gorge near Bijelo Polje and is among the longest and least explored cave systems in Montenegro, with expeditions having mapped many kilometres of passages, chambers and underground water without reaching the end. Plans to develop it for tourism have been discussed for years without being completed. The gorge leading to it is a walk in itself, narrow and wooded with the river running through.

When to go

May to October is the season for the gorge walk. The cave itself is not open for general visits and its status should be checked locally. Winter access is difficult.

Honest expectations

The cave is not developed and general visits are not possible; the walk is to and through the gorge. Development plans have repeatedly stalled and the current position should be checked. Facilities are non-existent.
