Musicale Plage is a small beach on Mayotte's western coast near Sada, shaded by trees along the back with a reef flat offshore and the lagoon beyond, and it is quieter than the eastern beaches because it is further from Mamoudzou. Turtles pass through the bay. The name comes from the sound the water makes over the pebbles at one end when the swell is running. Mayotte's western coast faces the sheltered side of the lagoon, which is why the water here is calmer than on the eastern shore. The beach sits close to one of the island's larger villages but stays quiet on weekdays.

What you actually see

  • The shaded sand - trees running along the back of the beach.
  • The reef flat - the coral shelf offshore in the lagoon.
  • The quiet - a beach away from the busier eastern coast.
  • The lagoon - the enclosed water the beach faces onto.

When to go

May to October is the dry season. Tide governs the reef flat. Weekends bring some local visitors.

Honest expectations

Facilities are minimal and there is no shop. The reef flat is shallow at low tide. The access road is rough in places.

Nearby

Sada is north, and the Passe en S is offshore.
