Taman Tasik Titiwangsa is a public park built around a former mining pool north of the city centre, and its particular value is the sightline: from the western shore the whole central skyline - the Petronas Towers, KL Tower, Merdeka 118 - lines up across open water with nothing in front of it, which is the reason photographers and wedding parties come at sunrise and sunset. Beyond the view it is a working city park: a jogging and cycling loop of a few kilometres, pedal boats and kayaks on the lake, a children's playground, football pitches, remote-control car and horse-riding areas, and food stalls. The National Art Gallery and the Istana Budaya theatre are on the edge of the grounds. It is at its best early, before the heat and before the crowds arrive.

What you actually see

  • The skyline across water - the Petronas Towers and Merdeka 118 unobstructed.
  • A lake loop - a few kilometres of jogging and cycling path around the water.
  • Boats for hire - pedal boats and kayaks on the lake.
  • The National Art Gallery - and Istana Budaya on the edge of the park.

When to go

All year; sunrise or sunset for the skyline. Two hours.

Honest expectations

Haze frequently softens or blanks the skyline view. The park is exposed with limited shade. Weekends and evenings are crowded, and the photo spot gets queues of wedding shoots.

Nearby

The National Art Gallery is adjacent; the city centre is south.
