Tanjung Sepat

Tanjung Sepat is a fishing village on the Selangor coast that has turned itself into a weekend day-trip destination for the Klang Valley without losing the fishing, and it works because everything is small and edible. The Lover's Bridge, a long timber jetty running out over the shallow water, was the signature image until storm damage forced closures and rebuilding; boats still work from the shore. Inland there are dragon fruit farms open to visitors, a goat farm, a bee farm and vegetable smallholdings, and the town is known for mantou - Chinese steamed buns, made fresh here and sold by the bagful - along with seafood restaurants and salted fish. It is a straightforward eating-and-buying trip rather than a sightseeing one, and it is at its best in the morning when the boats come in.

Honest expectations

The jetty has been closed for repairs at times - check before making it the reason to go. Weekends are crowded and parking is difficult. The water is silty, not for swimming.
