Sungai Klah sits in the middle of a palm plantation near Sungkai, and the geothermal field under it delivers water at around a hundred degrees at the source - hot enough that a section is set aside for boiling eggs, which is the thing most visitors do first and photograph. The water is piped and cooled through a graded series of pools, from scalding at the top down to a comfortable soak, along with foot baths, a fish spa and a small stream where the hot and cold water mix. There is a boardwalk through the surrounding plantation and forest patch, a camping area and chalets. It is a developed leisure park rather than a wild spring, tidy and safe, and it fills up with families at weekends and during school holidays.

What you actually see

  • A boiling-hot source - water near a hundred degrees, with an egg-boiling area.
  • Graded soaking pools - cooled in stages down to a bearable temperature.
  • Foot baths and fish spa - the standard additions around the main pools.
  • A plantation boardwalk - a walk through palm and a remnant forest patch.

When to go

All year; weekdays for space. Half a day.

Honest expectations

The hottest water genuinely scalds - test before entering and keep children clear. It is a built leisure park, not a natural spring in a forest. Weekends and holidays are crowded.

Nearby

Sungkai deer farm is close; the Cameron Highlands road climbs from Tapah.
