Getting thereIn Dzintari, Jurmala; train from Riga plus a short walk, about thirty-five minutes
EntryFree

Dzintari Forest Park is a family park set in the pines just behind the Jurmala dunes, and its centrepiece is a free wooden observation tower with ramps and viewing platforms that lift you above the treetops for a look over the resort and the Gulf of Riga.

What you actually see

  • The wooden tower - spiralling ramps up to a canopy-level viewing platform, free to climb.
  • Treetop and forest walks - raised walkways and paths through the pines.
  • Slides and play - a long slide and family play areas.
  • Sea and resort views - the Gulf and Jurmala's rooftops from the top.

When to go

Warm months for the full park and slides; the tower view is good on any clear day. It is a relaxed family stop between the beach and the town.

Honest expectations

It is a modest, pleasant park rather than a major attraction, and the view is of a flat resort landscape rather than dramatic scenery. It can be busy on hot summer weekends. Best combined with a beach afternoon rather than a trip in itself.

Nearby

The Jurmala beach is a short walk over the dunes; Jomas Street and its cafes are close.
