Germia covers the wooded hills on Pristina's eastern edge, a park of oak and beech with paths, picnic ground and a very large open-air swimming pool built in the socialist period, and it is where the capital walks, runs and cycles. Trails climb from the entrance into the forest and on toward the ridge. In autumn the beech turns and the park is at its best. The park covers around sixty square kilometres, which makes it far larger than the built area of the city beside it.

What you actually see

  • The oak and beech woods - the forest covering the hills.
  • The trail network - paths climbing from the entrance toward the ridge.
  • The open-air pool - the very large basin built in the socialist period.
  • The autumn colour - the beech turning through October.

When to go

April to October is the season; autumn colour peaks in October. The pool operates in summer only. Winter brings snow to the higher paths.

Honest expectations

The park is busy at weekends and litter is a problem in the picnic areas. The pool is dated and opens only in summer. Trail marking is inconsistent.

Nearby

Pristina is west, and Batlava is northeast.
