Mont Sangbé National Park

Mont Sangbé covers around ninety-five thousand hectares of mountain savanna, gallery forest and rocky ridges in the western highlands north of Biankouma, gazetted in 1976. It is among the least visited parks in West Africa: wildlife was heavily reduced and the park has had long periods with almost no management, though ranger presence has been rebuilt. What it offers is the landscape, ridges and valleys running up towards the Guinean border, rather than reliable game viewing.

When to go

November to March is the dry season and the only practical window. The rains from April to October make the tracks impassable. Grass is high and visibility poor at the end of the wet season.

Before you go

Wildlife is scarce and this is not a game-viewing destination. There is no infrastructure, no accommodation and no fuel inside or nearby. Access must be arranged with the park authority in advance.
