Vazon is a wide shallow bay on Guernsey's west coast, the island's main surfing beach and the venue for its sand racing, with a long sea wall and parking along it. At the lowest tides the stumps of a submerged prehistoric forest appear in the sand, drowned when sea levels rose, and they are visible only a handful of days a year.

When to go
May to September is the season for swimming; winter brings the biggest surf. The submerged forest appears only on the lowest spring tides. Racing events close parts of the beach.

The submerged forest is visible on very few days and needs a low spring tide. Currents on the outgoing tide are strong. Racing events close the beach entirely at times.
