At Inarajan the reef shelf forms the south's favourite bathing arrangement: the natural pools - lava-rock basins refreshed by the sea's wash over the shelf - swim calm, clear and family-warm beside the coast road, a diving platform adding the local rite of passage. The village behind carries southern Guam's heritage weight: Spanish-era church, CHamoru cultural village demonstrations on their days, and lanes whose old houses survived the island's rebuilding decades. Pools-and-village together make the south's classic afternoon, unhurried by design. The pools were improved with concrete walls in the twentieth century, so what looks natural is partly built. They fill and flush with the tide across the reef flat.

What you actually see

  • The rock pools - sea-refreshed basins off the shelf.
  • The jump platform - the local rite performed.
  • Inarajan village - church and heritage lanes.
  • The cultural village - CHamoru demonstrations on their days.

When to go

December to June for dry-season calm; high tide freshens the pools best. Weekends bring village family life to the water.

Honest expectations

Big south swells wash the shelf - judge conditions by residents' example; facilities are park-simple.

Nearby

Talofofo's falls and the southern coastal loop.
