Biausevu Waterfall

Biausevu, also called Savu Na Mate Laya, is a fall of around twenty metres in the hills behind the Coral Coast, reached by a walk of half an hour or so from the village that owns the land, crossing and recrossing the creek on the way. The pool at the bottom is deep enough to swim in. The visit runs through the village: a sevusevu is presented, a guide comes with you, and the fee goes to the community.

When to go

May to October is the drier season and the best for the crossings. The creek rises fast after rain and the walk becomes difficult. The fall carries more water in the wet season.

Honest expectations

The walk involves wading and the stones are slippery; shoes that can get wet are essential. Sevusevu and the village fee are part of the arrangement, not an upsell. Tour groups from the Coral Coast resorts arrive in numbers at set times.
