Pacific Harbour was laid out in the 1970s as a planned resort development on the southern coast, with canals, a golf course and an arts village, and it has settled into being the adventure base of Viti Levu: shark dives out to Beqa Lagoon, rafting on the Upper Navua, zip lines and jungle trips inland. The beach itself is grey volcanic sand and unremarkable, so almost everything people come for happens somewhere else, reached from here.

When to go
May to October is the drier season and the best for diving visibility. The wet season from November brings river run-off that clouds the water. Cyclone season runs November to April.
Honest expectations
The beach is grey sand and not the reason to come. The Arts Village is a commercial cultural show rather than a village. Everything is priced as an activity and the day rates add up quickly.
