The Omo Valley

This is ethically complex, sensitive travel: the region's tourism has drawn criticism for turning peoples into a spectacle, with staged encounters, pay-per-photo demands and cultural disruption, so it must be approached with great care, respect and humility, using responsible guides, always asking and paying fairly for photos, and never treating people as exhibits. The region is remote and roads rough, and the traditional cultures face real pressures. It demands sensitivity above all.
