Kokomo Beach

Kokomo occupies the sand at Vaersenbaai just outside Sint Michiel, and it works as a beach club rather than a beach: bean bags and loungers down to the water, a bar and kitchen behind, music through the afternoon and a pier running out that people jump from. Because the bay faces west it gets the sunset directly, which is what fills it in the late afternoon. Snorkelling along the rocky edge is decent enough.

When to go

Year round; late afternoon into sunset is the point of the place. Weekends are busy from midday. It closes in the evening.

Honest expectations

It is a commercial beach club, not a quiet beach, with music through the day. Loungers cost extra and go early at weekends. The sand is narrow and gets crowded.
