Prvic has two villages, Prvic Luka and Sepurine, joined by a walking path across the island, and no cars at all. Faust Vrancic, the polymath from Sibenik who published a Latin-Croatian dictionary in 1595 and a book of machine designs, Machinae Novae, in 1615 - including the homo volans, a design for a parachute - spent time here and is buried in the church at Prvic Luka. A memorial centre in the village builds working models of his machines and lets visitors handle them. The rest of the island is olive terraces, a scattering of houses and stony beaches.

June to September for the fullest boat service. Half a day.
Honest expectations
Boat times govern the visit and the last sailing back matters. The memorial centre is small and seasonal. Services are limited to a few places in each village. Beaches are stone.
