Santa Rosa de Cabal has two separate thermal sites that visitors regularly confuse: Termales de Santa Rosa, beside a large waterfall and closer to town, and Termales San Vicente, further up an unpaved road in a wider valley. This is the second. It sits in a forested valley at around 2,300 metres where hot springs emerge alongside cold mountain streams, and the arrangement is spread out rather than a single pool complex - pools of different temperatures through the valley, some built and some more natural, mud areas, and cold water to alternate into. The road in is rough and transport is usually arranged through the resort. Accommodation and camping are on site. It is quieter than the waterfall site and considerably further from the town.

What you actually see

  • Hot springs beside cold streams - in a forested valley at 2,300 metres.
  • Pools spread through the valley - rather than one complex.
  • Mud areas and cold plunges - alternating with the hot water.
  • A separate site from the Santa Rosa falls - regularly confused with it.

When to go

December to March and July to August. A full day.

Honest expectations

It is not the waterfall site - check which one you have booked. The road is unpaved and rough; resort transport is the practical option. Weekends and holidays fill it. Rain is frequent in this region.

Nearby

Termales de Santa Rosa is closer to the town; Pereira is west.
