Teraja Waterfalls

The Labi road ends at Teraja, an Iban longhouse settlement in southern Belait, and a forest path runs from there for around an hour to a waterfall dropping into a pool deep enough to swim in. The walk goes through secondary and primary forest with stream crossings on the way. A second, higher fall lies further up for those willing to continue. The path is muddy in almost all conditions.

What you actually see

• The fall and pool - the drop at the end of the walk, swimmable at the base.
• The forest path - around an hour through secondary and primary growth.
• The longhouse settlement - the Iban community at the road's end.
• The upper fall - the higher drop further up for those continuing.

When to go

Year round. Heavy rain raises the stream and makes crossings difficult. Mornings are cooler for the walk.

Honest expectations

The path is muddy and slippery almost always and leeches are common. There are no facilities at the fall. The Labi road is long and the last stretch is rough.
