Getting thereAt Sula, about 15 km from Stolbtsy, around 70 km southwest of Minsk
EntryCharged; guided programmes

Sula is a private project on the grounds of the Lensky family estate, restored from the 2010s and laid out as a sequence of reconstructions that a visitor walks through in chronological order: a stone age dwelling, a Viking-period boat and mooring, a medieval church, a smithy, a Radziwill-era distillery, a manor house, a chapel and a hangar with a period aircraft, set around a lake with boats. Costumed guides run the programme and demonstrations of forging, distilling and other trades punctuate it. It is a made attraction rather than a preserved place, closer to a themed park than a museum, and it is presented as such.

What you actually see

  • The chronological route - the reconstructions walked in period order.
  • The manor house - the restored estate building at the centre.
  • Craft demonstrations - forging, distilling and other staged trades.
  • The lake - the water with boats at the centre of the grounds.

When to go

May to September for the outdoor programme; winter opening is reduced. Programmes run to a schedule and booking is advisable at weekends. Guided visits are the standard format.

Honest expectations

This is a reconstruction park, not a heritage site, and nothing in it is original apart from the manor. Visits follow a guided programme on a fixed route and timetable. Prices are high by local standards. Programmes are in Belarusian and Russian.

Nearby

Stolbtsy lies southwest; Minsk is northeast.
