Foy's Lake

Foy's Lake was made in 1924 by damming a stream among the hills north of Chittagong to supply water to the Assam Bengal Railway, and it is named after the engineer who built it. The lake winds between wooded hills in a way that gives it a good deal of shoreline for its size, and boats run on it. It has been developed as a commercial amusement park with rides, a water park, restaurants and a resort, so the visit is a family attraction rather than a natural one, though the hills and water behind the built area are still pleasant and the boat trip gets away from the noise. It is one of the main things Chittagong families do at weekends and it is correspondingly crowded.

When to go

November to March. Half a day. Weekends and holidays are extremely busy; weekdays are calmer. The water park has its own ticket and season.

Honest expectations

It is a commercial amusement park and the natural setting is secondary. Multiple tickets for different sections add up. It is very crowded at weekends. Rides and facilities are dated in places.
