Iguazu Falls (Argentine Side)

The Argentine side of Iguazu Falls holds the larger share of this vast UNESCO waterfall system and offers the most immersive experience, a network of walkways and trains that carry visitors right into the heart of the cascades. The unmissable climax is the walkway to the very brink of the Devil's Throat, where the river plunges into a thundering, mist-filled abyss, an overwhelming spectacle of power, jungle and rainbows.

When to go

The falls are impressive year-round; the water is highest in the wet summer, December to March, though extreme flow can close the Devil's Throat walkway, while the mild winter offers pleasant weather and reliable access. A full day lets you walk all the circuits.

Honest expectations

The Argentine side needs a full day for its extensive walkways, and it is worth pairing with the Brazilian side's panoramas, which means crossing a border. It is hot, humid and busy, and the walkways get crowded. Coatis look cute but are wild, bold and can bite, so never feed them. Very high water occasionally closes the star walkway.
