EntryVillage arrangements

Behind Nu'uuli on Tutuila's southern side, a stream runs down a forested valley and drops over rock into a pool that the village uses for swimming, reached by walking up the streambed for twenty minutes or so from where the road ends. The route crosses the water repeatedly and is slippery throughout. The valley is village land and asking before going in is expected, as it is almost everywhere in the territory.

What you actually see

  • The fall - the drop into the pool at the head of the valley.
  • The pool - the swimming basin at the base, cold and deep enough.
  • The streambed walk - the route up the water from the road end.
  • The forested valley - the woodland enclosing the stream.

When to go

May to September is the drier season and the walk is safer. Rain raises the stream fast. Sundays are strictly observed.

Honest expectations

The streambed is slippery and the stream rises quickly after rain. Village permission is expected and should be asked for. There are no facilities.

Nearby

Pago Pago is east, and Two Dollar Beach is south.
