Orrdalsklint

Orrdalsklint in Saltvik rises to 129 metres and is the highest point in the Åland Islands, a granite rise with a marked trail to the top and an observation tower on it. From the top the view runs over forest, fields and water across most of the northern part of the main island. The walk up is short and easy by any standard, which is a fair reflection of Åland's topography.

When to go

May to September is the season for walking. Autumn colour is good in September. Winter leaves the trail snow-covered and slippery.

Honest expectations

At 129 metres it is a hill rather than a mountain and the climb is minimal. Trees limit the view in places despite the tower. Facilities amount to a car park.
