Dianas Vow
A rock shelter near Rusape holding one of the most striking painted panels in Zimbabwe.

The shelter at Diana's Vow farm near Rusape carries a painted panel that is among the best known in the country: a large reclining figure surrounded by smaller human and animal forms, painted in red and white, with an unusual composition that has been read in many ways and settled in none. The paintings are attributed to San communities and are of uncertain date. The shelter is on private land reached by a farm track.

When to go
April to October is the dry season and best for the track. Morning light shows the panel best. Access should be arranged with the farm.

The site is on private land and access should be arranged rather than assumed. The track in is rough. There is no interpretation and the readings of the panel are disputed.
