Hansen Bay lies at the far eastern end of St John past Coral Bay, on private land rather than in the national park, which is why a small beach bar operates on the sand where the park beaches have none. The water is shallow and calm, the beach is narrow, and the drive out along the East End road is the emptiest stretch on the island. Vie's snack shack nearby has run for decades.

The beach is narrow and small compared to the north shore. The bar and snack shack open on limited days, so a wasted drive is possible. There is no shade beyond a few trees.
