Getting thereAt the northern end of the east coast; coastal road from Fujairah
EntryFree; boat trips charged

Dibba sits at the northern end of the east coast where the Hajar mountains meet the Gulf of Oman, and it is administratively three adjoining towns: Dibba Al Fujairah, Dibba Al Hisn under Sharjah, and Dibba Al Baya in Oman. For visitors it works mainly as a base: dhow trips and dive boats leave the harbour for the Musandam fjords and the offshore reefs, and the beach and corniche run along the front with mountains rising immediately behind.

What you actually see

  • The harbour - the departure point for dhow cruises and dive boats up the coast.
  • The three towns - a settlement divided between two emirates and Oman.
  • The corniche - the seafront with the mountains rising directly behind.
  • The dive sites - offshore reefs and wrecks reached from the harbour.

When to go

October to April for boat trips and comfortable weather; sea conditions are best in winter. Trips into Omani waters need passports and border formalities. Summer heat and humidity are heavy.

Honest expectations

Trips north into Omani waters involve a border crossing and passports are required. Boat trips are cancelled in rough conditions with little notice. The town itself has few sights.

Nearby

Al Aqah is south, and Khorfakkan is beyond it.
