January to May, the dry season, for the sunniest weather, calmest seas and best snorkelling and diving visibility; the summer is wetter with a hurricane risk, though Tobago lies largely south of the main hurricane belt. Tobago is genuinely laid-back and low-key, with modest, low-rise development rather than big resorts or nightlife, so it suits those seeking tranquillity and nature over buzz; some reef areas have suffered damage and are best visited responsibly.
