Flagstaff Hill stands at the northern tip of Tobago on a ridge that was used as a lookout and later as an American military radio post during the Second World War. From the top the view runs both ways: down over Charlotteville and Man O' War Bay on one side, and along the northeastern coast to Speyside with Little Tobago and St Giles Islands offshore on the other. It is one of the best sunset points on the island.

What you actually see

  • The two-coast view - Charlotteville on one side and Speyside on the other.
  • The offshore islands - Little Tobago, Goat Island and the St Giles group.
  • The wartime remains - the site of the American radio station on the ridge.
  • The sunset - one of the best evening viewpoints on the island.

When to go

January to May is driest and clearest. Sunset is the popular time. The road up is steep and rough in places.

Honest expectations

The road to the top is steep and in poor condition; a high-clearance vehicle helps. There are no facilities. Haze often limits the longer views.

Nearby

Charlotteville is below, and Speyside is east.
