The building opened in 2020 next to Lindt's Kilchberg factory, designed by Christ and Gantenbein, and its atrium holds a chocolate fountain about nine metres high that runs continuously - a giant whisk pouring into a bowl below - which is the image the place is built around and the thing every visitor photographs. Beyond it a museum tour covers the cocoa chain from plantation to bar and the Swiss contribution to chocolate technique: Rodolphe Lindt's conching process, developed in Bern in 1879, which turned gritty chocolate into something smooth and is the reason Swiss chocolate acquired its reputation. There is a demonstration production line, tasting stations and what is billed as the largest Lindt shop anywhere.

What you actually see

  • A nine-metre chocolate fountain - running continuously in the atrium.
  • The conching story - Lindt's 1879 process and why it mattered.
  • A demonstration line - small-scale production visible on the tour.
  • Tasting stations - included along the route.

When to go

All year. Half a day.

Honest expectations

Tickets are timed and weekends sell out. This is a company attraction and reads as brand-forward. The actual factory is not part of the tour. It is aimed squarely at families and the shop is unavoidable at the end.

Nearby

Zurich is up the lake; Rapperswil is at the far end.
